Binus University

So, This is the last part of today, even though this part wasn’t part of FEP, This is HTTP ( Himti togetherness and Top Performances). The welcoming party created by HIMTI for Computer Science Student, the Welcoming party was Rp. 150.000 (and until now I think it was expensive), we were given T-shirt, C language class, and a Software kit.

The HTTP event located in Jakarta, BPPT II Building.

So, this event held by Himti every year, since 2001, and the theme of every year was different.

This year theme was “Passion, Innovation, and Togetherness.”

The first show that we watched was Zootopia, after a while when the film about to reach the climax (end), the film was changed into a programming course advertise, my friend that sit next to me was very disappointed.

after the advertise, the MC was greet us , then there were a singing performance by Binusian 2020 band, after that a countless speech by HIMTI president of Alsut and kemang, Mr zhang, and also the chairman of computer science.(actualy in these part I was SO SLEEPY)you know why right? :v

after that we were given an hour break, they gave us food and drink.

When the break over, we assembled again and we watched a talk show, there are 3 guess, and there were all alumni from Binus, they are success to make an innovative software, I don’t remember it all, I just remember, the alumni who created a robot that can talk and tell a story, and also the alumni who created a personality detector(?) maybe, the software can detect your personality from your post in twitter ( And I think it’s kind of creepy). in this part the I almost sleep, I even spaced out for a second. because the content of this part very dull and boring.

And once again we were given an hour break.

After the break, we were assembled again in the hall, but this is near the end of the event, and from here, the fun just begin, the next even was Dance, a Band showing performance, and also there was a DJ. me and my friend were jumping and jumping until my feet were hurt.

After the DJ performance we allowed to go home.

In my opinion, this event wasn’t worth it, I just sitting  from 9.00 AM until 3.00 AM,  at that time I think why I come to this event, but the DJ, Dance, and the Band performance was great, at that time we really have fun together.

overall I think I will the Event 5 stars out of 10 Stars

Hello^^, it’s me again, and now I will tell u about the Last part of GO, the Inauguration, It was part of GO to welcome us to Binus University.

The Inauguration was held in JCC(Jakarta Convention Center), since I live in binus square kemang, I take shuttle Bus.  On the way to JCC, I was stuck in the traffic jam, and when we are nearly there, suddenly Rain came down, and in the end I ran in to the building, and my cloths are all wet.

There were a lot of student in there, maybe there are 2000-3000 student (maybe), there were formal session and the show session, in the formal sessions, there were you know, the formal stuff like the dean speech, we were singing Binus and Binusian songs, and we were all told to wear our almamater and it feels amazing, after that we moved to Show session.

And for the show, it were really amazing, there are dance, the freshman singing( it so good!),a magic show, and a lot more.

Actually this inauguration was very amazing, I had fun in there, met my old friend, take selfie with my class , but the go home part is suck, because I need to wait one and half hours to finding the taxi.

Hello! again, So in this Post I will tell you guys about Academic orientation, You guys remember Right? This is the second stage of FEP.

Academic Orientation Consist of 1 week Learning, in here we will learn about the curriculum of our major, the study skills, our foundation material from each program, and also we will get to known Our lecturer, and of course my new classmate from Computer Science Global class.

The First day started with collaborative classes, the class consist of 2 classes, there are IT regular,  IT Global class.

and we already get to learn ALGORITHM,  for the god sake, I don’t event know what is it.

And after that, the class got separate, I was going to my class, and you know what i saw? 12 MALES, and  No FEMALE, and in that moment I really feel disappointed to be in that class :v ( just kidding), after we get to known each other then our lecturer come to the class, and it turns out she the same lecturer in collaborative class, her name is Ms Rulyna.

for one week we learn the algorithm, pseudo code and C++ language, in the last day of AO there is EXAM waiting for us, and this EXAM determine that we FAIL or we PASS(and I think I fail).

Binus University has a lot of orgaanization that’s call OK(Organisasi Kemahasiswaan),and this OK are to train our Organizational Skill,OK are divided into 3 there are:

1. Himpunan Mahasiswa (HMJ)
2. Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM)
3. Komunitas( community)

So what the difference between this 3?, HMJ is like the Community for each Major, For example Computer Science then they would belong to HIMTI ( Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Informatika), If Food technology then there would belong to HimFoodtech

So what is UKM then?, UKM is an organization that created by students base on their hobby, there are a lot of UKM like from the sports there are: Basket, Badminton, Futsal. From the Art there are BDM, Bvoice. From the Martial Arts there are wushu, Aikido.

and then there is Community, Community are the same with UKM, its created by Students, BUT, still doesnt get the Permission of Binus university, so its like an organization that still stands alone without Binus Support.

For the first, I will tell you about FEP, what is Fep? Fep is Freshmen Enrichment Program, or the other university call it Orientation, but in Binus we call it Fep.

in the Fep there are 3 stages, there are:

1. General Orientatio or (GO) for short
2. Academic Orientation(AO)
3. Campus Life Organization(CLO)

The First I will tell you about GO

1.General Orientation

The first stage of Fep is call General Orientation, there are 5 batches:

1.ABN(kemanggisan), AAS (Alam Sutera)

2.BBN, BAS

3.CBN,CAS

4.DBN,DAS

5.EBN,EAS

It began from 18^th july until 27^th august, I was batch 4 and, since I am in Alam Sutera so my class is Das,  you know, a lot of people ask me why I choose Alam Sutera, and the only reason why I choose Alam Sutera is because the building  is so cool :v (you can see the picture below ).

So, my class was Das 01 and 08, there are around 60 people in my class, and we were from difference major, there are IBM, business creation, Computer Science ,dll

there were also our seniors called BC(Buddy coordinator) and we freshmen were called Buddy, they are our seniors who volunteer to be our.. Friend? Or more like Teacher who teach and look for us until the GO ended.

In GO, we were introduce to Binus, We learned what is Fep, our rules in Binus, what the requirement to be graduate from Binus , and we were told about Binus Maya.

In the last day of the General Orientation we held Gathering and Expo, in the gathering all the class show a performance, there were a lot of great performance , we had fun watching another class perform, after the performance, there was an expo held by the Student Organizations in order to recruit the freshman into their Organization. Their stand were super interesting so in the end I was join 5 organizations, and now I regret this T.T  .

In my opinion, The GO was very fun, eventhough there are the boring part too, But I had fun in this GO, I can meet a new friend, a new life in university, and I can join a lot of organizations.
